Download the PDF again from the original website or email. If possible, use a stable internet connection and compare the new file size with the old one.
Try opening the new copy in another trusted PDF reader. If one app fails but another opens the document, the file may be valid and the issue may only be with the first reader.
Ask for a fresh original when possible
For official documents, the best solution is usually asking the sender to generate and send a fresh PDF. A new export from the original Word, spreadsheet, scanner, or system is more reliable than attempting to repair a damaged copy.
Do not rely on a repaired copy for critical legal, banking, academic, or government submissions unless you have carefully checked every page.

Avoid uploading confidential PDFs to unknown services that promise repair. Sensitive files can include identity documents, bank statements, contracts, medical records, and personal details.
